Over the past week on about 3 occasions text messages sent to me have arrived about 9-15 hours late, phone has been on and in signal.
Anyone else?
No problems here. Are the texts being sent from O2, or another network?
Not sure what network my friend is on, just been on O2's web chat and they've confirmed its not an O2 number but then again mine is technically an Everything Everywhere number as it was ported in from Virgin and my friend is always switching to get the best deal so its possible its been ported several times.

If your number is ported doesn't it still get routed via the original network? I know that's not the case in some countries, not sure about the UK there is a article here but tbh its abit early to plow though it for me. http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/gc18review/statement/ Im not sure if it still works like that since changes were being made in 2008 or if in fact it is 2012.
I think yoiu could be right Gary although unlike BT, mobile networks can tell where the number has been ported to (which is why for example someone ringing me from an O2 mobile doesn't get charged an other network rate because my number was originally a T-mobile number)
I've just placed an order for a pay monthly SIM only contract so maybe it'll work better on that.
The problem did seem to resolve itself so think it was probably the other network.
I use a sim only contract, one month rolling forward, damn fine deal on O2
Got 100 mins one and for the next few months after the first bill it will effectively be free when they add the credit to the new account.
I do plan to defect to Tesco Mobile when the credit is used up as they offering 250 minutes for 10 quid.
GiffGaff (http://giffgaff.com/) seem to do good sim only deals, eg 250 mins unlimited texts and internet £10/month, they use O2.
I rarely actually make actual calls, its mostly texts and Skype or messengers using Beejive.
I just want collect the clubcard points as the O2 rewards seem a bit naff and I must be getting older as I'm thinking about how I can save money on food shopping apart from going to ASDA.

This is a big issue now Mitch, Fuel and food are the biggest direct bills to hit us hard and its not even winter :shake: a weekly shop is so expensive, filling the car up is very expensive...its not fun.

A BP station that I pass everyday on my way to work, since Tuesday it has had the following prices for diesel displayed;

£1.37.9

Yep. as far as I know those signs are linked to the trading systems at the company.
They change bssed on the price of crude oil, among other things.
Yes but they buy crude on the futures market, so the petrol you buy today the oil will have been purchased a few weeks/months ago.

I wouldn't expect it to move by that sort of value each day. Because they buy on the futures market, that allows them to smooth out the pricing using averages. Round here prices normally change by just 1p each time, although that might happen twice in two days.

Yep. I got about 2 years of free calls if I recall correctly, in two separate occasions from O2. They told me I had £120 loyalty bonus towards a phone upgrade, told em I was happy with my current handset. So they said they would knock £120 off my bill. Well, it was already £10 a month, so that's free for a year in my books! ;D
Assuming they take into account the time I've been with them on PAYG (nearly 5 years) I should get a good loyalty bonus.
New SIM arrived this morning, filled in the form for them to move the number and credit.
Wish they'd make the serial numbers on SIM cards a bit larger.

Looks like they've done the changeover, just need to keep an eye out for the credit which I think they apply to your first full bill.
Looks like the original problem is back, just got a text sent by someone yesterday.
I have the same problem with my Orange phone except it's not hours or days, but sometimes weeks before I receive text or missed call messages. My iPhone messages are instant :dunno:
Yeah my mate who is on Orange is complaining about that, maybe there are now more mobiles than the systems were designed to deal with.
No point in contacting O2 as they'll tell me there's no issue, so much for contract customers being more important to operators eh.
So much for texts being instant! That said, I've had no problems whatsoever myself, on O2.
Outbound OK (verified by requesting a delivery report) but inbound is the problem.
No issues here, is there work in your area? Give O2 a call they will look up to see if there is I call rarely but they are always helpful, also it could be a sim card issue or even a phone one, some Nokia phones have issues with incoming texts (if you are using one). Try turning it off and back on, and deleting all your messages in your inbox first.
Nothing on their site, originally had the issue on my PAYG SIM but my new contract one is in the phone now, O2 to O2 messages seem to be ok, its those from other networks such as Vodafone which suggests an interconnect issue.

Have you sent yourself one just to test. If its an issue because the number was ported it may take time to settle down, mine was ported to orange and I had issues, then back to O2 and all has been ok for years now.
I'll give it a whirl, mine was ported from Virgin (technically T-mobile) in 2006 and all's been ok up to recently.

Should be fine by now, maybe like BT there is work going on in your area and O2 have not got it on the info page :dunno:
