OK, I'm not normally one to be jealous of Apple products but at the moment they have a simple feature that I would like and cannot find - how the heck do I change the default name of the blessed thing (Desire HD in my case but I'm sure other Android devices are the same)? I see any number of My-ipod, Keiths-iPhone, Steves-iPad and so on trying to connect to our network but Android devices appear as Android_fc054a21e028 and so on and I can't see any way of changing the name of mine :( Apart from anything else it would make it easy to identify the chief executive at a glance rather than having to scan down a list of numbers!
This is what I just found, http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/37/how-do-i-change-the-name-of-my-android-device
That seems way too easy. :)
Or an app http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/device-name-features-info_kfut.html
Even better. :)

Yeah, that's the sort of thing I was finding too - I was hoping that later versions of Android would have had this as a feature rather than a hack -and if you have to root the phone to do it then as far as I am concerned it's a hack :(
Wouldn't even mind an app to do it but it really shouldn't be necessary!
Lol, I was looking at that app as you were replying - but I couldn't find it on the market and am wary of apps from other sources. Ah well, if tat's the only option then that's what I'll have to do :(
Cheers :)

OK, found it on the market & installed it but can't see how it works! It really shouldn't be this tricky, I may not be a wiz with Android but I'm not a technophobe either!
