You haven't said what type of phone?!?

Obviously if it's an iPhone or Android device it's a hell of a lot easier than a 6 year old Nokia.

Baz try this link - http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobilesoftwaremanual/mobilesoftwaremanual.do?page=MOBILE.SOFTWARE.MANUAL

You should see a tab for "New PC Studio". Apparently that's much better than the old software that came on the original disc.

Not sure I understand the question. If the phone has a USB connection, no software is needed at all. If it has no physical connector, I can see no direct method. Software is not usually need to transfer between any USB device and Windows.

If you just want to transfer photos then I believe you can set the tocco usb to 'mass storage' mode, then it should be recognised as a dsic drive by whatever OS you're using. Try here http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091114114542AADr3Ui

I now remember why I didnt like that samsung software before....its a pile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got it from the link above, installed and every time I run it, it checks for updates straight away, either finds some or not  :dunno:  doesnt say the outcome, then shuts down.

setting  as mass storage the phone just says insert memory card,as it would say.I just want to transfer from pc to phone and the other way round too   how hard can it be

Thanks for the help any way, i'll try again later. its not a major problem

With my Android phone I use the 'USB Storage' method. Prior to that however I simply took the memory card out of the phone and put it into a card reader - doesn't get much simpler than that unless for some reason you cannot remove the memory card :)

I use memory cards or "usb disk mode" with a usb card on most phones. Quick and simple. Not helpful for email syncing, but great for photos and music.
