Title: Partition recovery software
Post by: Ted on May 22, 2011, 22:09:41
Today I inadvertently deleted the partition\fat on my 16gb USB stick... bugger! Looking around for some recovery software, I came across findandmount (http://www.findandmount.com) they do a free version for home use. worked an absolute charm, found the drive and partition, then mounted it. I copied all the files off and reformatted the drive. Phew! panic over.

Only problem is that it's a windows programme  >:D but any port in a storm, eh?  ;D

Strangely windows refused to reformat the drive, for some reason, no problem in Linux though.

Well worth keeping a copy for "those little emergencies"  :thumb:

You could have always tried Testdisk (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk) (it's in the Debian repositories - I assume other distros will also have it).

Steve

Just noticed, it's multi-platform too - Windows, Linux, MacOS, DOS, BSD and SunOS

I've just done something similar, and found Acronis Disk Director did a good job of getting me out of some very deep sh*t!   :red:
