Title: Changing MTU & improving connection speed?
Post by: dslpete on Mar 21, 2011, 14:33:03
Hi,

I have the following spec 2700HGV

Hardware: 2701-100589-005
Firmware: 6.1.1.48.1-enh.tm
ISP: Zen ADSL2+

and I'm trying to change the MTU value of my ISP (Zen Internet).  However, the usual workaround for entering the ADSL ISP credentials doesn't allow me to change the MTU value from 1500.  I want to experiment with 1438 and upwards.  Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I'm getting the following line stats - can anyone see anything from this lot that would be worth a tweak / try?

Modem Type: Built in modem - ADSL
DSL Line (Wire Pair): Line 1 (inner pair)
Current DSL Connection:
Down Up
Rate: 12962 kbs 875 kbs
Max Rate: 12993 kbs 876 kbs
Noise Margin: 6.0 dB 11.4 dB
Attenuation: 35.5 dB 17.1 dB
Output Power: 20.6 dBm 11.8 dBm

Protocol: G.DMT2+ Annex A
Channel: Interleaved
DSLAM Vendor Information Country: {46336} Vendor: {IFTN} Specific: {48753 }
ATM PVC: 0/38

Rate Cap: 12993 kbs
Attenuation @ 300kHz: 35.5 dB
Uncanceled Echo: -22.0 dB Ok
VCXO Frequency Offset: 21.5 ppm Ok
Final Receive Gain: 17.6 dB Ok
Impulse Noise Comp. Tones: 0 Ok
Excessive Impulse Noise: 0 Ok

Peter

Don't change the MTU in the router, change it in the OS. :)
