Apparently, a datacentre has beeen broken in to, and equipment has been stolen.
Oh dear.
Presumably for the value of the metal? That kind of theft is going to become more prevalent in a recession while metal prices are high.

Always seems to be Vodafone this happens to doesn't it, remember reading a couple of years back that thieves broke into a facility housing equipment that operated the pager network.
Presumably the other operators have tougher security/fewer facilitiies.
Voice and text apparently up and running again.
The BT engineer that is sat next to me, still can't call his phone, but his colleague over in Surrey has a service. :dunno:
Makes you wonder what was stolen/damaged doesn't it?
:music: It's ringing phones for you but not for me :music: ;D
Mine is working. I just asked a mate to text me, and I got it straight away. Now there's no excuse for my mother not to bring that curry I just texted her to request :D
Be careful where she delivers it, Niall. ;)
We use vodafone as our supplier at work and this problem caused a major business continuity alert to be issued. Apparently those on voice only phones were the only ones affected.
Bit worrying to hear that your company is so dependent on mobiles Lance.
Looks like it was full of switches http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/02/28/vodafone_outage_2/
I've got a box with about 10 spare light switches...
I have some spare bulbs.
We should go into business together. ;D
We aren't massively dependent, Mitch, but I guess I don't know how dependent some other areas are such as adult social care.
