The rumour is that Microsoft purposely did not encrypt the gadgets such as Knect so that hobbyist would develop for it. So their are not "knect hacks" as they are simply plugging it it, and it works. However, hacking can be on shaky ground.

On the software front, I saw this game the other day...

They have probably won a purchase off me. Because they have not gone over the top with DRM. They have been honest and communicated with their customers. They provide incentives for customers to buy. They have not  put up walls that entice people to hack their software. Sony could do the same. A £20 "key" to unlock the power of the cpu (it's crippled for non-sony games) or to put linux on it. Then people have less incentive to hack it.
Puppygames, as linked above, understand that "haters gonna hate" or is that "hackers gonna hack". ;) I'm not saying you should let it happen, but that trying to stop the tide, is not always possible, but moving yourself is!

Also regarding DRM, gog.com are releasing retail version of The Witcher 2 without any DRM at all for quite a decent price and with lots of extras. Definitely worth a trip if you support non-DRM games.

I'm gutted! I had a tenner ready to pre order it. Now they got a surprise release, and it's doubled the price! They did it yesterday.  :slap: Almost worth it, but now I'll wait now.

I think the argument goes that you buy the hardware but licence the software.
