Has anyone got a current version of the Mac Mini? (http://www.apple.com/uk/macmini/)
What are they like - good bad or indifferent?
Not I, Tac, but then you'd expect that from me. ;D

Quite :) Actually I doubt there will be many (if any) of the Mac enthusiasts on here who will have a Mini since they are generally regarded as being overpriced for what they offer. Even for Apple ;D
Now that is saying something. ;D
Had to admit though I was somewhat blown away when I saw that they can be used as servers.
I have one it's sole purpose is to stream music to a USB asynchronous DAC. It has no monitor attached either, it's extremely quiet and for my needs compared to an equivalent CD transport it's a bargain.

Is that the server version or the current 2010 slightly larger (http://www.apple.com/uk/macmini/) (not the original mini form factor) standard one?
How do you find it?

Have a look at MacMini Colo, (http://www.macminicolo.net/)they have racks of them set up as servers. They've built a nice business in the US doing co-location on the cheap.

It's the standard one, as I understand it's difficult to get the server version to run iLife although I believe it will run iTunes, I've only attached a monitor once so I've not explored too far, I would say the performance is on a par with the 13.3 Macbook pro, memory upgrade is easy ,it's very green and very quiet.
Justina had a big Mac ;)
You're telling a whopper ;D
:hehe: :thnks:

Never had grilled fries, isn't that a sort of double negative in cooking terms ;D
Ah, but the whopper is flame-grilled. ;)
