Title: Netgear DGN 2200
Post by: Ardua on Jan 27, 2011, 18:24:28
In anticipation of access to ADSL2+ at the end of next month, I am looking to replace my aged DG834 v 1. Netgear model DGN 2200 appears to meet my needs ( the 3300 looks to be a little over the top but I am happy to be proved wrong). If I replace my router now, will the DGN 2200 support ADSL Max or should I wait until I know that ADSL2+ has gone live?  Many thanks.

I bought one a little while ago and find that it holds connection remarkably well.  It doesn't seem to drop at all.  Recommended. :thumb:

I have come across a problem with my netgear 2200, the Line attenuation on this router is stable at 56db, when I put my 2wird on then my attenuation is a stable 45db.  This means that I gain 1mb download increase with my 2 wire and lose it with the netgear.  Trouble is the netgear is wirelss n whereas the 2 wire isn't.  Anyideas how to improve the attenuation on the netgear 2200, I have tried 4 different filters.

No idea I'm afraid. When I was on ADSL Max, I had little difference between the Netgear and the 2wire. I've not tried since I've moved to ADSL2+ though, and recently the DLM decided my line was stable enough for a 3db target margin so I don't intend to disturb it!

Can you turn the Netgear into an additional wireless access point which should give you the best of both worlds,in essence assign it a static IP outside of the 2wire DHCP range, turn off the firewall and DHCP server and connect via Ethernet to the 2 wire.

That's an idea, will look into the practicalities of it and keeping it all tidy from the wife. ;D
