Title: Modem Access
Post by: Polchraine on Jan 25, 2011, 09:40:32
Has anyone found a way to access the Huawei modem yet?

There must be some way into it ...  and there will be some interesting/useful data there.

There is- get hold of one of those test boxes that the BT engineer uses when he installs it

The test box mimics the router/hub on an Ethernet connection.   There must be a way through the router to the modem and I had hoped someone had found it!

Probably, but not necessarily... no reason why a coded packet can't be sent to the modem to tell it to run in a non-ethernet test mode until the plug is pulled out.

Depends how determined BT were to block user access, and it shouldn't be too difficult to code something like that.
