Coincidence I would think, Baz, I certainly haven't seen any increase and no one else has reported anything.

Nope, me neither.  User account with the forum, and / or with IDNet, were not affected by the hack.

Sadly I wouldn't know as my host filters the spam and I never get to see it.

For whatever reason I don't tend to get any spam on the one and only email address I currently use and that hasn't changed since the forums were hacked :fingers:

Actually I use Gmail which does a very good job of sidelining these type of emails.

Use Operamail as your client and you have a "block sender" facility along with the "report spam" button.

At desktop level Windows Live Mail has a decent spam/junk/phishing control system, it is a better email client than first appearances suggest , a good antivirus should have email checking and spam control too.

Once your email addy has been sold on to spam lists you are going to be bombarded for a good few weeks. What they are hoping for is that you will confirm your address is live by hitting the "Unsubscribe" button which just adds to your misery. If you do not respond in any way they will eventually give up.

Have several email addresses and only use a system that has a block sender control for signng up at forums/websites, Operamail is what I use for all sign ups and if things turn out bad I can instantly block the site and /or report spam which then means they get blocked from all Operamail accounts and added to anti spam lists.

I too use Gmail and never had a problem.  I trust Google, Microsoft and all other Commercial companies implicitly. ;D    I do, however, prefer corned beef to spam.

I trust them. It's just I trust them to snoop my emails when they are bored in the office. Well, at least mine are all boring so no need to worry.

The truth of the matter is, I always forget my hotmail/live and google mail passwords, so I've been locked out for all this time.
