A hint guys. For months I've been looking for a mediacentre type application on Linux that would compete with WMC on Windows, but always fell down when it came to DVB-T. I was an erstwhile user of me-tv but found this clunky and not particularly pretty. Finally, I've gotten there and thought I would share.
XBMC seems to have matured well now, being fast and easy to use, but lacking DVB-T support (or so I thought). It seems XBMC supports tvheadend for live TV (http://www.lonelycoder.com/hts/).
Install XBMC from the repository and tvheadend as described on the website. Configure tvheadend (the docs are sparse but more than adequate). Finally, start xbmc - add a video source as htps://127.0.0.1 and voila - live TV :)
The best of it is, it's much faster than WMC starting up and in usage. I'm a very happy bunny.
