I need a reminder, when were the free download days over Christmas :santa2:
December 25/6 and January 1, Bob.
Thanks Rik, Merry Christmas :santa2:
And to you, Bob. :mxmas:

And support are closed from now until January 7th?.... Although there will be backup for 'loss of service' calls.
I think they do respond if you are disconnected but bear in mind they are dependent on BT who don't generally want to do much through the rest of the year so are probably even less inclined over Christmas.
;D
Support is closed till January 4, Tac, but normal out of hours service will be there for 'no connection' issues.

Thanks Rik. You and Sue have a happy Christmas :)
And you, Tac. :)
I just came looking for a thread like this. There's a Steam sale on don't ya know :D
Can anyone check to see if you have received free allowance for yesterday 1st Jan, I have usage registered for yesterday so it appears to me that the free allowance didn't kick in
Same here.
I downloaded 5 games through Steam, so I hope it's free or I'm doing not a lot for the rest of the month, or staying up until 3am each night :D
Same here, 25th - 26th shows 0 and the 1st is showing usage!
Day | Download (GB) | Upload (GB) | Peak (GB)* | Off-Peak (GB)* |
1 | 3.11 | 0.09 | 1.89 | 1.23 |
Yes - I am showing download for yesterday!
I'd imagine the system is automated and once IDNet staff get back to work they'll adjust it accordingly and reset January 1st downloads to nothing.
While we're on the subject is anyone else showing anything for Boxing day? I am which is weird as that was meant to be excluded as well.
My two end colums for Boxing Day are showing zero. Yesterday is showing a very small amount of data which is consistant with the small amount of internet I used. However, it is not showing zero as I would of expected.
I'm sure all will be fixed in due course.
You have it in one, Griff, I've just confirmed that with Simon. And yes. :)
Rik, small point I know but the spell checker option doesn't seem to be present after composing a message. Maybe I need to turn it on somewhere
I've never used it, tbh, JB. I'll add it to our list.
I only use it, cough, as a bit of reasssurrancee...
Where did it show, JB?
Just checked mine. I am showing downloads for 25th /26th December and 1st January. I am well inside my limit so not bothered.
I have no chell specking either.
The spell checker won't work on the new server. We'll see what can be done about that.
It's not a problem Rik. In fact IDNetters was one of the few boards that had the facility enabled. Other forums like MSE don't have it enabled at all.
Keep up the good work and get an early night after a wee dram...
It might be a big dram, JB. It's not just me, the rest of the team have been beavering away, and I've been talking to Martin & Tim at IDNet.
Any culprits yet?
Too early to say what happened yet, Mitch.
RedLight - BLaDe - quardian - DexteR - Sertac - LazRa - JoviaL - drߣdr - aLLeqRo are the Hackers I guess
I just saw Sobranie's thread after posting.
Probably a script kiddie.
And I would like to apologise if my previous comment to Rik sounded remiss.
I would like to express my gratitude to ALL the admins at IDNetters, not just for getting the forum back so quickly after the attack but also for all the work they put in throughout the year.
A Very Happy New Year to you all and
:thanks3:
Our pleasure, JB, I just didn't want to take credit for everyone else's work. My primary function here is to break things. ;D

It is always good to watch an expert at work, Rik :hide2: :out: :running: :running: :running: :running:
Sorry to be bring this back to being so serious but I do have to ask.
The server that was compromised did not hold any customer data did it?
As far as we know, it was just hosting the forum(s), Mitch.
Thanks for the replies will check tomorrow, just checked december and I also have usage for every day of the month
Hmmm, I posted in this thread earlier on :eyebrow:

I've used the spellcheck (well, dictionary) addon for firefox for years. It's always handy, but sadly it has ruined my ability to spell :D
I find spell checking software invaluable but it sometimes has uninfected results when I foal to reread what I've just creaked ;D
;D

I don't think there are that many script kiddies these days Mitch, the Secunia redirect was Turkish/Muslim fundamentalist based. I think Brunei may or may not be highlighting the same cause or hacking under the same flag for the fun of it, but hacking by script kiddies is more a thing of the past in the mainstream these days as bigger fish have more to make out of it.
Huh? Did I miss something? :out:
I don't know, Ben, I'm just busy with the dustpan and brush. ;)
I would like to confirm with ID that servers containing customer details including payment data were not compromised.
They were not, Mitch. The server that was attacked had no part of the IDNet system on it.
That's a relief, as a precaution I switched to BACS and got a bill today which I've just paid, I'll put the DD back next month.
The second thing I did, after finding out we were hacked, was to check all the IDNet sites, Mitch. For the first, use your imagination.
Get on the blower to Simon or Tim or bang in a large order to DR in case the net went down.
Simon and Tim weren't my first point of contact, and I couldn't get anymore in the freezer right now...
Order a 3rd freezer ;D
;D
I was suggesting a bigger garage freezer to Sue and she was beginning to show an interest...
I could have offered you some temp space just before Christmas.
;D
Room temperature, Mitch?
We were using a cupboard under the stairs as overflow for the crisper it was that cold.
;D
We usually use the garage, but it was too cold.
Just checked the "Current Usage" today: the usage from 1 Jan seems to have been subtracted from the total.
Mine has too.

Yep. Must be "banking days operating" computer system. ;)
