My pc is a hell of a lot faster now i've swapped ESET AV to Microsoft security essentials...
Such a shame - I won't be renewing my subscription this year!
I've generally heard that MS Security essentials are quite lightweight and don't come full of all the typical bloatware that made me give up on antivirus about 10 years ago. Nice to see MS making products that users actually want again!
In fact I removed Avast and installed MSE last week, more as a test, though I have to say that up to now it seems to be doing OK, and it's useful to have a single scan for downloaded files available instead of having to scan with AV, SAS and MBAM separately.
Having said that, I'm not placing all my trust in it just yet, and still go through the whole scanning routine with periodic scans using Panda Active Scan.
For now, it's just an experiment and I may go back to my old set up depending on how much confidence I have in MSE.

Don't rely on an AV product to protect you. Change your behaviour and you won't get infected. :)
Both, is the best idea. :)

That does not work, searching for some info on the Gower peninsular got a Rogue AV in my browser, thankfully it cant install a .exe on a mac or windows security centre... but its easy to get got these days, safe browsing is not as easy as you think any more.
