Title: Email client for small LAN
Post by: jupiter on May 02, 2007, 23:03:45
Is there an email client that will allow simultaneous access to the same mail store from different workstations on a LAN?

I have several email addresses, all at present accessed through Thunderbird on one XP machine.  There are two other XP machines in the LAN and I want to access the same email accounts from all three machines.  I prefer the message store to be within the LAN, rather than held remotely.

I know Thunderbird can't do this and so far as I can see neither can Outlook.  Any suggestions?

Read about FREEPOPS (http://www.freepops.org/en/files/html-manual/node6.html) that may do what you want.

Found the Download page (http://www.freepops.org/en/) too.

Download.com has email clients a plenty too.

The other option, Jupiter, would be Outlook used with a program called SyncPST, which, as you might guess, synchronises Outlook across multiple machines on a LAN.

Or use an exchange server? Although a bit extreme in this case!
