Did you contact Idnet? It may be something to do with this extreme weather, also there are a huge list of BT works that are meant to take place, not sure if that happening in this weather though Baz :dunno: I would be inclined to disconnect ifs dropping that badly it will hammer your profile, have you checked your router, have you another one you could use, and have you tried in the master socket if you have one?
router stats are
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6655 kbps 888 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 18.0 db
Noise Margin 14.4 db 11.0 db
havent contacted IDnet yet and cant get on BT tester for some reason but did a one about 6pm and got some daft result where actuall speed was higher than profile, which was lower than normal though, about 5500 if I remember right.
I'll try another one now.
ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz its very slow
Download speedachieved during the test was - 6433 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 2000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :6655 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 888 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 5500 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 20.39:23.21:56.4 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 740 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 888 Kbps
pages just seem loading at a crawl. The forum is bad tonight
It does look like BT works as that's when they happen, at night and about 2am, if its been going on all day that would be a different matter :)
no just seems to be tonight Gary.Other speed testers are slow too.
always knew the testers were not very reliable and ' BT will only look at results from their own site ' but seems even that now is hitty miss

I am not sure on adsl2+ profiles Baz, its a bit odd that your download speed is greater than your profile ie your downloadable speed was 6443Kbps when your profile is 5500Kbps so I would ask Steve or someone. What are your pings like to www.idnet.net? You say tonight is slow but your dropouts were in the early hours, so how long did they go on for Baz? Your stats don't look that bad but snr is high, are you on a fixed profile on adsl2+?

Drops went from 01.26 to 02.44 I just edited the early post as it was long :)
thinking back I seem to remember that the BT tester has been like that a while, or is it just me :dunno:

It may be because of your profile Baz pings are higher than mine but not bad, I would see how it goes tonight, it could be exchange congestion Baz as your profile does not look bad, well not to me. Pings are a higher than mine but not that bad.
From what I can see you should not be having trouble surfing the Internet with the current BTspeedtest result and ping times. We've seen odd results with the BT speedtest with throughput higher than profile on adsl2+. In my mind the downstream sync is lower than it could be and the margin is elevated , are the error counts high as well?
Looking at the downstream sync of 6656 you've likely been placed on a banded profile by BT line management, I suggest you check with support tomorrow Baz as something's happened.
It's worth noting, Baz, that we seem to be having server problems with the forum, so we are seeing lags in pages loading, particularly after you've made a post.

and could find no mention of my exchange.
Bear in mind that ISP status pages will generally not report 21CN voice work, even though it takes down the ADSL.
