Title: Call of Duty 4
Post by: zimmerframe on Apr 28, 2007, 11:05:15
For all CoD fans who where disappointed that number 3 didnt make it to the PC, it looks like number four will.

However, it also looks like WW2 is officially over!

Cheers m8 it sounds like the same problem i had, vista told me about the issue and all was ok until i tried to play then i got the grey screen, i have played it before but reinstalled to try it with vista and the new card. Im just going to reinstall it and make sure AA is ok. Will report back on what happens.

Thanks again.

im still loving COD:UO myself ;)

Cod 3 was "ok" - cod 4 looks to be going into that crowded modern day setting *thinks it looks very similar to battlefield*!

Your totally right it seems like all the slagging off has only turn the ww2 setting into modern day, it looks like these games are going to involve a hell of alot more terrorists and middle easterns settings.

Im very much looking forward to the new medal of honour and brothers in arms games

... speaking of which http://www.ea.com/moh/airborne/home.jsp

MoHAA was the one that started the WW2 FPS Genre and was a favourite of mine for some time.  I too prefer the WW2 theme, though I do play and enjoy BF2 from time to time.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one.

wanted to ask a question but thought i would stick it in an existing post.

Which Call of Duty really shines online? The trailers and shots of CoD2 look truly awsome and im really very tempted to buy it (£16 off steam)!

I know Zimmerframe is really the expert here. Basically is it really as good as it looks and is it CoD2 that everyone plays?    I cant find CoD4/CoD3 on steam so im assuming they are not released yet?

CoD3 is out but is an Xbox game only and has missed the PC completely.  CoD4 is, as mentioned in the links above, due for release later and will be modern warfare.

I play CoD2 and there is still a large on-line following for this game.  There are lots of modded maps and game modifications also available for on-line players.

The original CoD and its expansion pack, United Offensive are good and worth a look.  United Offensive features vehicles that the player can use, ( tanks, half tracks, jeeps) which add a bit to the gameplay and the maps tend to be bigger because of that.

CoD2 is graphically better though and was used for a while as a yardstick for computer testing by some magazines.  I prefer playing it.

Another feature is PunkBuster which keeps most cheating low life at bay too.  Never play on a server with PB dissabled, there are still some :o

For £16, buy it, or cheaper, buy it on-line from somwhere like Play http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=PC&searchstring=call+of+duty&page=search&pa=search&go.x=43&go.y=10

Get it, you know you want to.  See you on-line

i just got it for £11.39  ;D

Seems like a good lark lol, my pings seem to be constantly around 80ms though on all servers  >:(....they are 40ms on CS and 25ms on HD2. Seems very strange. What servers belong to your clan?

Our public servers are:

81.19.223.128:28940 - Public S&D
81.19.223.128:28950 - Public Rifles
81.19.223.128:28960 - Public mixed mode

The S&D seems to be our most poular server.

We have custom maps running, so make sure you have downloads enabled from within the game.

in multiplayer menus anywhere there is no option to connect to server with a specific ip address :S how can i connect to 81.19.223.128:28960 for example?

once in game, bring down the CONSOL using the TILD key ` (upper left hand key on the keyboard).  Then type in connect 81.19.223.128:28940 (or any othe IP address)

You can also search using the multiplayer search option.  this should give you a whole list of active servers.  You can then add your favourites to "Favourites".

Or you can use a browser such as ASE or Gamespy.
