I wonder what happens when you get heavy rain storms, the signal dies for satellite TV so presumably the same for this?

If it's geostationary, 475msec minimum, plus whatever the ground links put in.

Not good, but if you're 20 miles from the nearest exchange with not enough users to warrant a fibre being laid... IOW, it's better than nothing!
