Hi I'm new to the forums on IDNet.
Currently I'm with F2S on ADSL Max but the service has gone down hill since they became part of Pipex so I'm thinking of moving.
I mainly use my internet connection for surfing and for gaming and I also download the occasional music and movie files. Currently my connection is synced at 8M but my speed fluctuates a lot depending on the time of day and I get anywhere from 1Mb up to about 4Mb. If I move to IDNet how much difference will the fact that it is an uncontended connection make, should I expect to see better connection speeds with a more stable connetion?
Any advice or experience would be appreciated.
TIA.
I don't think the speed as such will improve but the speed overall will stay stabler (at a more constant speed) than your other isp - unless of course if it was caused by exchange/line problems
The customer service is enough of a reason to move and so is the reliability and probably the best speeds that you can actually get on these World War 2 lines ;D
The lines shouldn't be a problem because they were all replaced up to the house about 18 months ago :) The main problem that I have is that the connection speed really slows down during peak times and I was hoping that an uncontended line would help stop this slowing down.
Firstly...welcome aboard Chops !
I like you, fled F2Shape a number of months back and have never been happier with an ISP. Re: contention - you will just have to keep an eye on peak speeds and your exchange (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php) VP status. I'm about 1km from the exchange which approximates to 1.4km line length. I sync at 8Mbps and vary between 4 - 6.5Mbps throughout the day.
But as I have posted before - raw speed isn't my main reason for being with these guys. It's Customer service, product offering and price that's brought me here - in that order !
Cheers

If you ask me, they`re performance went downhill long before they hooked up with Poopex, I came here 6 months ago from f2s ... no competition, nuff said ;)
:D
As someone who is looking to come to IDNET from NDO, I'm really encouraged to read the positive responses here.
As I am a fairly light user I was thinking of starting off on the lite package at £17.99. How much would an upgrade cost if I wanted to upgrade to the 30gb package at £24.99? Many thanks for any help given.
I don't think it will cost you anything as i have upgraded from the lite to 30gb without a charge occuring.
