My mate is looking at getting Windows 7
The upgrade is going at about £70.
What does he actually need to be able to install Windows 7, aka clean install (format, install and go)
Is there limitations on amount of installs?
Just it mean you need to install previous version of vista every install then upgrade or as long as there is windows you can reinstall?
He wants it on a new hard drive so am I right in thinking he needed to install his copy of Vista, put the upgrade disk in, format and install again to get 7?
Take a look at http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp Also, if he is a student, then take a look at http://www.software4students.co.uk/Windows_7-software.aspx
Cheers
So on a fresh hdd he needs to install his current vista OS.
Not sure if its legit, if not i'll sell him my old vista for cheap cheap and he can install his Windows 7
then every reinstall as he will already have w7 installed he can do it without vista
amiright?
You do not need any previous Windows OS on the HD to install , I wiped a drive clean and used Win7 upgrade , it never asked anything, just installed.
Yep as Dorset has said, you do not have to have a previous OS installed. Obviously, to use the upgrade media without a valid license for a previous version is a big no-no!
Seems it wanted vista installed b4 the key could be accepted
Sorted now tho :)
