Can I access 192.168.0.1 from the cli dos prompt?
I know, daft question as I can access it from IE but I have a puter setup to do shortly
and IE or other will not be installed prior to router setup.
Will this be a Windows setup? In which case you will have IE as part of the installation. If it's Linux, then I assume you would have to install a browser.
I assume you want to get to the router's web interface, or are you trying to telnet in? Afaik, you need to have turned on telnet from the web interface first, or you could d/l Routerstats and that will telnet into the router.
I'm not sure whether that will help as I'm not sure what you want to do when you get there...
Windows or Linux you install your operating system which includes a browser and set up networks etc afterwards.
As Rik says in windows IE is an embedded part of the system,you cannot install without it .
You could work from a DOS partition,but IE is already there.
