Title: TV card
Post by: psp83 on Oct 31, 2010, 17:13:44
Anyone got any suggestions for a good tv card for my new pc coming through next week?

HD Freeview would be a bonus but not a deal breaker..

PC Specs:
Intel Core i7 Processor 870 2.93GHz
8192MB 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Memory
1.5TB Hard Drive
1GB Nvidia GeForce GTS 240
Windows 7 64 BIT

Nice spec there Paul.

Aren't Hauppauge supposed to be renowned for their TV cards?

Same with this computer I am on now..

Its specs are :

Inspiron 530 Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Processor Q9450 (2.66GHz, 1333Mhz FSB, 12MB cache)
Memory Dual Channel 4GB (4x1024MB) 800Mhz DDR2
Hard Drive 500GB
512mb GeForce 5950 GT

If I wanted to upgrade this one I would have had to buy a new mother board, memory, cpu, gpu & psu so thought I'd get a new machine that is future proof for a few years.

Shame, they are good for price but had an absolute nightmare when I ordered a then top of the range XPS 600 in 2006.

I'll just have to go on saving.

Damn. I've never had any problems with dell or there computers, this one is a dell, one before that was and so is my main laptop.

I phoned them before ordering this new PC just to make sure its future proof and can upgrade the memory etc and they said I can have a total of 16gb in this model & any of the I7 cpu's (same socket)

Well it came today and I'm happy with it so far, just the painful process getting everything installed again.
