I have been having a few problems with my modem of late and the advice from the maker is to do a factory re-set, thats ok I can do that following their instructions no probs, but the part I dont understand is they say I should contact my provider (Idnet) and request a line test and a whoosh test, what does that entail ? . I dont want to contact Idnet and request something and not know what i'm asking for, I would feel a complete idiot if they asked me why. :red:

Thanks glen, looks to me the maker (Belkin) are just passing the buck
I am enclined to agree Klipp, but the Belkin was a good deal, and has worked fine for the last 3 years, the lifetime g'tee was a draw and it seems they will honour it :fingers:
Ps. An added bonus is that if you can set up a Belkin, and make it work, you can set up anything.

I've never understood "lifetime" guarantees. What is the lifetime of the product? Even atoms degrade over time.
I see it as my lifetime, and that,ll do fur me :thumb:

Hopefully its not what they consider to be the lifetime of the product, I always wonder about that, as most things electrical seem to have a finite lifespan these days :(
