My Internet/download needs are relatively modest e.g. National and local News from the BBC news site; email with very few attachments up or down; updating software such as anti virus, Firefox and Windows; Google searches for information; this forum for information; browsing; shopping and information sites. No music or Video downloads and no online gaming. All adding up to less than 2gig a month. At the moment I am trying to get my download speeds up from current steady about 2meg. What is the minimum advised download speed for this range of applications? By trying to go faster am I wasting my time and risking wasting my money?
If you are happy with the performance of what you use and are not looking to do much else then I wouldn't really be looking to spend more.
What speeds are you getting at the moment, also what are the line stats?

RouterStat-Lite shows Sync. 4064kbps and margin 5-6db measured for periods on different days.
Latest BT test at 0800 this morning gives IP of 2742 down and test speed of 1969. Upload IP 704, test 583.
Had my margin reset 21 Sept but no changes in performance since.
2-wire (v6) collected for last 12 days.

Guess this is all the relevant figures.
I think he said 2 Meg Glenn.
To be honest, if you are just browsing the web and not downloading much then 2mb is fine.
Amazing :meldrew: I posted that I was getting 2 meg last night and this morning BT and tbb show that I am now getting 3 meg. Can the forum be awarded Karma's?
Perhaps your ip profile has risen a bit as it was a bit low for the sync.
