That's resyncs, Baz, and at that time of night, I'd say BT were working at your exchange.

ok cheers.any way of finding that out?
Title: Re: drops
Post by: Rik on Sep 19, 2010, 12:14:59
Not really, Baz. BT don't tell IDNet if they are doing individual exchange work.

seem to be getting a few lately.was just getting a good up time too.Have put off buying a new router as its been a bit better but would be nice to know which side is causing the bother.

Most BT work occurs between midnight and 7, most commonly, and disconnections will happen around 2am. Check when your exchange is going 21CN, the engineering work for that causes interruptions. (Also check whether you have a dial tone and/or any noise on the phone at the time.)

Ask support if they have any notification from BT of work being done at your exchange, Baz. It might be a good idea to also run the router from the test socket and see if it helps.

I'm never around at that time to notice I wouldn't worry unless your sync is being affected, BT work probably. Mind you I've lost interest in log checking, as longs as it's working and throughput is ok I'm really not bothered what happened during the night.

I know what you mean too Steve but Ive had a few recently and cant find out what the problem is.Was thinking of getting a new router but then it settled down after the recent work that was done,IDnet or BT cant remember, but ive had two in a week

Loss of sync is always an issue between your router and the exchange, Baz. It is never anything to do with an ISP.

I was just saying that it improved whatever the work was and I couldnt remember who did the work  :)
