Title: How long for a line retrain?
Post by: gingerjedi on Sep 18, 2010, 17:59:40
BT have supposedly fixed my faulty line after about 4 years of trying, the fault was actually happening when the engineer arrived for a change.

How long before my connection approaches something normal? I'm currently seeing 130Kbps.  :'(

It should clear as soon as he reports the fault as fixed, it might, though, take a few days. If it's not sorted by Monday, give IDNet a ring and they'll kick the tyres for you. :)

It was fixed by 10AM but bizarrely I couldn't connect for more than a few seconds until I cleared the 1571 answer message that was causing the stuttered dial tone.

Is this normal??

No, I'd suggest trying a new filter.

Which type would you suggest, I have a drawer full of em'.

Sending a new filter was the stock solution to any BB problem, with my line I have amassed quite a few over the years.

Grab anyone, Ginger, if the dial tone is breaking through either the filter is faulty or the engineer hasn't cleared the fault.
