QuoteBT Planned Maintenance - 21CN (ADSL2 )
BT have advised us of planned maintenance that will affect customers country-wide on most ISPs.
This work is required so that BT can carry out hardware upgrades.
BT advise that some customers may have outages up to 4 hours and should only affect BT-based Home and Office services on the 21CN network.
Start Time: 12:00am, 9th September 2010
End Time: 7:00am, 9th September 2010
More joy from BT :shake:
Be even more joy if 21CN managed to reach this part of the forest.....
To be honest for me I think I'm better off without it in it's current state
At least it's at night.
:eek4: That means there will be nothing to do but go to bed. Not that I'm addicted to the internet in any way.com
My concern is that a game I preordered through steam comes out the day after. I hope it's all done, issue free by then!
You would of thought Steam was upgraded now, maybe to internal combustion engine? ;D
Internet in the UK is shockingly bad. I remember a few years ago I used to taunt my Australian friend for only having 56k modem while I cruised along at 1mb. Now a few short years later I am still on my 1mb and he is on 16mb. Stupid karma!!!

Oh, but as he is on an "island" miles away from any other continent, everything has a ping of over 600ms! So, unless it's an Australian website (and face it, who knows of any of those ;) ) he will take ages to load up a page. ;D
is this the same work that is mentioned in the header of the forum, in red text? If so does it affect every one or just some areas of the country.
the header mentions about turning off your router, again is this every one
thanks
I'm leaving my router on and taking my chances. My God, I'm such a dare devil.
thats what I was thinking too......just got it going on a decent uptime too.

Everyone, Baz. The advice to turn the router off is to avoid a stale session in the morning, which will take half an hour to clear if it happens.
ok cheers Rik. :thumb:
just wondering though......every one?? in Uk or just IDNET every one? ;D
best way to power down router is ?
Everyone on a BT-based service, ie Virgin and LLU customers are OK, Baz.
Oh, and unplug it. :)

Hmm. Like I said before, I managed to keep some connections up with the last down time. However, Steam logged off during the service interruption. :eyebrow:

I'm tempted to see what happens - last time I suffered no disruption. OTOH, I don't want to be messing around with a stale session in the morning.
Unplug the ADSL2 line, leave the Max line plugged in, or vice versa.

Still having to cook for yourself then Rik >:D :out:

Both services are affected though, Glenn. ???

Only for about 29 more hours. :)
Yes, but only one line would possibly have a stale session.

Re-heating it for lunch counts. ;D

But you should still have one of your two lines operational in the morning
Ah, right, I thought you were still talking in general terms. The work, though, is said to affect ADSL2 & Max, so I could end up with 2 stale sessions. ;D

You'll be a shadow of your former self by the time she returns.
Or the opposite - I have no sense of portion control. ;D
cant remember the last time I powered down my router, do they hold all the settings when turned back on

Time hanging heavy, Rik? :)
A bit, John, I don't feel complete if Sue's not within cuddling distance. :)
I'm going to risk it and see what happens ;D
It could be rather quiet here tomorrow! ;D

I hope this doesn't effect me for too long. I've just got a job in I need to do so I'll just have to get on with it and pray. It could be a looooooooooong night :-\

It should do, Baz.

They're talking about 4 hours downtime per customer, Zap.
Yeah, I'm working my backside off trying to get everything done before it dies. If I can at least get all the file transfers completed I can probably use my phone to to do the rest from the software's admin panel.
Good luck. :fingers:
Thanks :)
Will we have shiney new internet after this upgrade work? One wonders what goes on behind the scenes... :)
But we never find out....
My router log only goes back to 2.45 , Did anything happen overnight? I've nothing showing.
Nothing happened here, my router log shows unending normality.
Mine was turned off.
Mine too.
As far as I know nothing happened and I was working most of the night. However since the outage that effected World of Warcraft players last night, peering to the Telia network seems really poor.
Nothing happened here either.
Router off. Unusually, I got a higher sync speed out of the re-start. :)
No sign here that anything happened last night either :dunno:
I just spoke to Simon who says they have no evidence either. Maybe they put the wrong date on the notice? :dunno:
:shake:
I can't find any indication anywhere that anything happened... there's always someone over on tbb who didn't know about these things in advance and posts a query!
;D
Seems we are unanimous.
We usually are where BT is concerned :P
True. ;D
Oo that reminds me. I forgot to tell my mother I turned the router off ;D
Don't worry, they'll sneak up on us now. ;)
