Considering the following after 8 years with my fujitsu machine.
Main use is burning old dvds and cds and linking to my sony bravia tv to watch blue ray movies.
Comments much appreciated.

Can I test it for a couple of years for you, Rick? ;D
Have you tried getting a quote from Scan, Rick. You'll get a three year, extendable, on site warranty.
You may find the standard CPU cooler is a little noisy when watching TV.
Have amended the cpu cooler to a 'super quiet 22dba triple copper heatpipe cpu cooler'. (That OK Glenn?)
Takes the price up to £1231.
PCSpecialist advise that I only require a 600W PS but I'll take the 800W which should take care of any future requirements.
Haven't contacted Scan as yet but I'll send the quote to them too.
Tks for replies folks.
That should be fine.

You can have my old one, a snip at £500.00
;D
I've got a good spec machine I'm trying to offload so I can get an i7.
Yours for £650
Final Choice I THINK>>>>>>> Any suggestions greatfully received.

Why the AMD and not an Intel, Rick?

Why the AMD and not an Intel, Rick?
Time to check out the opposition I guess plus pc specialist recommends the amd in my chosen spec.
Web reviews are particularly favourable too.
.er indoors has pointed out that I'll need an HDMI lead around 6 mtrs long to connect the graphics card to the bravia tv.
I read somewhere that this can lead to sparklies on the screen due to the distance. Any thought on this pls.?

Just curious, Rick, the Intels seem to be hot favourites at the moment.

You can go up to 15 metres, but it needs to be a Cetegory 2, or High Speed, cable.
There's a specialist firm here:

Ouch!! I've only to go around 7 mtrs max, any suggestions Rik?
They do a 7m at £20.21 with a money-back guarantee.
I did similar to save money. AMD seem to be the best bang for buck. Not had any trouble with mine. I was on a budget, so I dropped 1 core, and got a 3 core 2.8 black edition. Was a cheapstake on my ram too. :( I also had trouble justifying 1 cd drive, let alone 2 blue ray drives! :eek4:
But my rig was half the price at around £650.
Nice setup you'll have there. :thumb:
Have just swapped the blue ray player for a blue ray player,re-writer & I hope that just about does it.
I did wonder about the HDD, wouldn't a larger drive be better value plus you'll get a bit more cache.

Just remember it's bad to put all your eggs in one basket in this case. (Metaphorically and in reality. ;))
Make sure you can backup essentials.

I have a 120Gb external HD for this purpose together with a few 8Gb memory sticks for really important bits and bobs
I bought a PC from PC specialist last year/The Antec case you are buying is brilliant. There are 3 air filters that you can take out and wash whenever they get clogged with dust.PC runs silent. Plus it's built like a brick outhouse,I kid you not.

'er indoors will be overjoyed (NOT) when she views this heap! otoh my present 'pute sounds like a 10 megawatt generating plant so I think that she will accept the compromise in fairly short order.
She's ploughing her way thro. qvc and amazon at the mo., why am I getting worried????
