Title: Good CS from O2
Post by: Lance on Aug 20, 2010, 12:42:42
Whist on holiday my iPhone twice picked up my emails even though data roaming was turned off. Both times it did it the phone was charging but that's about the only thing I can think off that was different from the usual usage.

So, picking up the emails cost £4.85 + vat of data. A very quick call to O2 CS (went through straight away to a UK call centre) and the charges have been refunded without argument. She said they are working with Apple on this issue but no answer yet to the problem.

I recommend that if you want to save yourself the call to CS you turn off push email and the auto fetch of emails, but if your iPhone does decide to randomly use data a quick call to CS should get it sorted.

With IOS4 you can turn off data completely which you could not before which may help mitigate that issue once the other settings are turned off as well.

All depends on whether the off switch works.

Based on Apple's recent screw ups might be better to just take a different phone.

Not to mention the fact that it might attract less thieves.

Wavesecure (https://www.wavesecure.com/wavesecure/) is a great little app to have on your phone before it is stolen.

:thumb: To O2 Mobile customer service too. Only had one problem with them, a keying error meant they took £200 on a bill, instead of paying off £200!  :eek4: But a phone call, and they swapped it back, and applied the £200 credit properly. I forgive them, as I've pressed those buttons myself in the past.
