Title: Buying a new computer
Post by: DarkStar on Aug 18, 2010, 18:37:23
As per the subject line - I am going to get a new computer to replace the aging one which is dying and undergoing attempted resuscitation at the moment  :(
So any personal recommendations as to reliable suppliers/companies who also provide decent help and backup if things do go wrong and of course the suppliers/companies to avoid as well will be gratefully received.
I have a Mesh machine at the moment which up till now has been trouble free for 7 years except for a small problem which I could have sorted out had I know what I know now. The Mesh support/backup then was abysmal to put it mildly, not sure if it is any better today.
I have been looking at this site and am very impressed with it, very easy to customise  as you go along

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/

Does anyone have any experience of dealing with them, either good or bad.

Right, off for tea, getting hungry (there, changed the subject already) be back later.

Never used them myself Ian. If you have been happy with Mesh, why not order another from them?

If you want to specify your own, or buy off the shelf, Ian, give Scan a call. Excellent advice and service, including out of warranty.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking on an independent review site earlier, all the PC specialist reviews were 4 and 5 stars, Mesh were mainly 1 or 2 with the biggest gripe being support issue's but also long delays in delivery which customers were not kept informed about.
