start/run/cmd used to open a small window on the xp machine but now switches to a complete black screen etc. Only way to get out of it is to invoke ctrl/alt/delete. Any idea how to get back to the normal small window pls.?
still does open small on mine :dunno:
when its open can you right click on toolbar/options tab is a display section,is that selected for window or full screen
Nope, afraid not, the toolbar has gone walkies I'm afraid. All i get is Microsoft version and the prompt to enter ping or tracert etc.
just tried changing it to full screen and yeah thats what it does and as you say no way to get out of it except ctrl/alt/del
Have you done a scan for malware, Rick?
when you have it open in full screen Rick try Alt+spacebar thenP
does that bring it back from there you might be able to access the properties part and change the options to window
That did the trick Baz, thanks muchly. :thumb:
You can also toggle between full screen and windowed mode using Alt+Enter
even easier :thumb: :thumb:
Ta muchly to all. :thumb:

tried them once in my youth, horrible things (all poofy), went back to my senior service untipped.
jftr Sobranie was the name of my black afghan hound, still sorely missed after some 15 years.
I was a john players non tipped smoker but had to give them up for health reasons. I now smoke those horrible tipped light ciggies and I hate them but still smoke them.
Sobranie is a lovely name for a dog. I remember the ciggies well. You got Black ones and multi coloured ones that you bought when you were trying to make an impression. ;D
My username has nothing at all to do with tobacco, I do software technical support for a living, mostly on PCs.
