Title: Google releases beta for Chrome 6
Post by: Simon on Aug 12, 2010, 12:10:24
Google has unveiled the latest beta of its Chrome browser, and updated the current version to fix a Flash flaw.

Aside from the inevitable speed improvements – the release is 15% faster on the V8 and SunSpider javascript benchmarks – the beta includes a few of the new features expected for Chrome 6, including Autofill.

Chrome will now keep track of name, address, phone number, and credit-card numbers when they're entered into forms, said software engineer James Hawkins in a post on the Chrome blog. Card details will only be saved when the user approves it, however.

Nor do I, even though in the pwn2own it was the hardest browser to hack, saying that since Google got away in most countries with its wifi scam I'm even less likely to install it now I knew governments would like that info. I have noticed now though you can download Google Earth without the updater, just go to advanced in the download and you get away without having that nasty, but if you get Chrome it comes with it anyway.

I can't seem to disable google updater and crash handler from loading up in the background on boot. It's really annoying as it's not needed. Half the time I won't even use a google product, so why have it's programs clogging up my ram!!! (like google earth etc though.)

Because  Google says so.

Why not use CHROMIUM (http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Internet/Browsers/Portable-Google-Chrome-Chromium.shtml) instead of the Google version ?

The Chromium project is open source and is what Google Chrome is based on.

I used CCleaner to remove the google updater from loading at boot.

It runs as a service, Ben, go into Services and disable it. :)
