Hello everyone,
I have a few large downloads I'd like to make. I'd like to start these just after midnight, to take advantage of the off-peak download quota.
My body clock starts screaming for sleep around 11pm most nights, so is there a way of automating downloads to start after midnight?
Many thanks
Kevin
There is, Kevin, but unfortunately I'm not the person to tell you how. Someone else will shortly though.
Any use? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/58271/
Free Download Manager (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/) will allow you to schedule downloads and does much more besides.
It's most valuable feature is it's ability to split downloads into sections for faster downloads and it allows downloads to be resumed if they stop for any reason, no need to go back to the beginning.
Oh and it's FREE with great support.
Thanks a lot everyone, will try those suggestions out later.
Cheers
Kevin

I have just started doing the same after downgrading to the LITE package. I use GETRIGHT and it is set to start downloading after midnight along with any Microsoft updates etc. I leave my PC in Hibernate mode when I go to bed and use the Task Scheduler to wake up my PC at midnight and then run Getright 5 minutes later. On completion of downloads, Getright is set to put the PC back into Hibernate mode. It all works perfectly. I did have initial problems in waking up my PC with Getright, but after researching the issue I found I could use the Task Scheduler in Windows to do that function.

Now this is some really good information. Wonder if there is space on the forum for a How To's section? For handy hints and tips......
Waits for Rik to post :)
Closest we get is at http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=1563.0
I use Orbit Downloader (http://www.orbitdownloader.com/) as it plugs into anything, and will capture any files. You can schedule from the first click on a download if you want to.
Another way to get things done is to get up at 6, and get 3 hours worth of downloads done. Although that is a rare occurrence for me.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm using the Free Download Manager and it works perfectly. I have it scheduled to start the download just after midnight.
Many thanks
