Title: Medal of Honor
Post by: zimmerframe on Aug 03, 2010, 12:38:55
Anyone playing/played the Beta?

http://www.medalofhonor.com/

Set in Afghanistan now.  More like a cross between CoD2 and CoD4.  I've played a couple of the beta maps.  Not at all bad really.  One I will look out for in October...

Hey, old is a state of mind; every incarnation of CoD and MOH and their ilk are played by a lot of us very old folks.

On my desktop right now are CoD. MW, Sniper Ghost Warrior, Stalker 2 and Singularity.

We old folk have the time  :thumb:

Some people have nothing better to do than whinge about games, thinking it'll get people on their side to help their careers. All it did last time was help sales of Call of duty (I think it was).

IT IS A GAME YOU MORON.

Meh. Even though it's a game. It can be rather offensive. It's like poking fun at a war veteran, and saying "it's only a joke!" (By that I don't mean joking along with someone, that's ok)

It's nothing like that at all. It's daft comments like that that help the Sun sell papers.

Nah. Hate the thing. Just saying that if you set out to be offensive, you will be. And that you cannot make a game out of anything.

To be fair I suppose it depends on how easily offended you are. I suppose those that are offended by this couldn't possibly watch a war film, especially saving private Ryan, or the band of brother series.

Could be that games along with films with WW2 as the theme are based on events that happened 60-70 years ago they are more acceptable to the vast majority, but so many Allied Forces are being killed or maimed by the Taliban I can fully understand the views of anyone who would rather the game was banned.

My Father was killed by the Japanese in Singapore 1942,I never felt offended by WW2 War Films,I hate the Japanese Soldier who killed my Dad but I do not hate all Japanese People because of my loss no of course not.

I have played all the COD series including World at War,will I be purchasing M.O.H.?,maybe if the Grandchildren nag me long enough, would I play as a member of a Taliban squad, NO is the simple answer.

Let's hope it's better than the previous beta in July.

I've read a couple of articles in the press of late and they are suggesting that the developers have changed the multiplayer team name to "Opposing Force" instead of the Taliban.

A subtle difference.........

Mine arrived yesterday.  I tried to install it last night.  Annoyingly, it froze mid way through the install.  Not a good start...

XP.  I cleaned the disc and it installed fine.  Single play is OK.  Objective based story, similar to MoH of old.  Quite atmospheric. Nice graphics and lots of chatter rom your team mates.  A little gory but it is an 18.

In my version there are definate in game references to terrorist groups in Afghanistan, AQ and the T, (dont want to attract any attention here ;) ).

I havent tried on line play as yet...

Online is fun but you do get games when both teams are full of snipers and spoil the fun. Also sniping is easier in MoH as they've took out bullet drop from BC2. So where you aim and fire is where it hits :(
