hi
my issues with having to reset the router every day are back. When we switch on the pc it picks up the router and the signal strength is good. However I have to reset the router to get on the internet. Once I have done this it is OK and we usually log of about 10pm. If my lad comes home say 10.30pm and wants to surf, it wont connect and we have to do a reboot again. Having to do a reset every day cant be doing my profile any good, can it? Tried new phone, filter, new router, connected to the master socket etc. Any ideas?

Have you spoken to support?
Are these connections all via wifi
Or if via a wired lan, have you tried fitting a lan card rather than the built in port.
Something else, is there a BIOS update for the motherboard?
This started happening to my sister the other day on a wireless network. I've told them to set specific IPs and security settings for each PC, and I haven't heard back yet so I assume it worked :fingers:
hi
yes I have been in touch with support, about 6 weeks ago they reset something. Sorry cannot remember what it was. Its all wireless in my house, but my next plan is to get a long lead, turn the wireless off, and leave it connected to my pc for a few days. I'll know if it works because I have to reset every morning.
thanks
Sounds like a plan. :thumb:
It seems that if someone with a BT connection nearby can sometimes upset local wifi connections because of fon and bt wifi broadcasting. My friend had this trouble and I had to set his wifi to only use his own router, even this was hijacked sometimes but it now seems to be ok. It is always BT's fault as they want all their residential customers to provide a wifi network for the rest of the country. :rant2:
Surfing away a few minutes ago and the net went off. Logged onto to the router and thsi is what it said in the log. Noise margin looks a bit high dont you think? Anway switched on/off and back online.
Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 0 kbps 0 kbps
Line Attenuation 55 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 2147483646 db 11 db
That noise margin is actually a negative number and from the zero connection speed, you took the router stats at a point prior to the router regaining sync.
hi
is there any programe I can leave running tonight to monitor when my connection drops out. I plan to leave the pc on all night and see if I have an internet connection in the morining.

You can try Routerstats, if it works with your router http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm#routerstatslite
hi
I recieved my lead today. Switched of the wireless and pluged directly into the router. I have been happily surfing at great speeds all day. Bingo I thought, Im going to hardwire it and do away with the wireless. Then at 22.30 the internet lost its connection. You can nearly set your clock that it will be between 10-11pm. So it disconnects every night without fail, whether wireless or hardwired. Nothing apart from a router reset will do. I reckon this is something to do with me going ADSL2+, because I have never had this before. Time to ring Idnet tech support.
cheers
Do you lose PPP or sync?
hi mate
It says in the log "Loss of Synchronization".
cheers
So something is happening between you and the exchange. :( Have you tried an alternative router?
Yes, new router from pc world, same thing happened so I returned it. Just lost the net again but this time it reconnected itself. Thing is I used to go months without any problems.
Talk to support, you seem to have taken all the self-help steps you can.
