Looking at getting this and spoke to sales at my ISP to see if they were going to levy an install charge and was told it was unlikely as all work was done at the exchange as is the case when switching from Max to ADSL2+ but other things I've read suggest it requires an openreach engineer to install and test in which case I'll have to book a day off from work for.
Can anyone please advise?
There's definitely a charge as it entails an engineer visit, Mitch.
Think I'll just have to wait and see what their prices are.
ISTR it was £47.
Cheers.
I gather that BTW are charging much more for the FTTC Customer Access Link which seems a little barmy to me seeing as fibre is less prone to failure than copper and thus the copper loop length is being reduced which should make the engineer's job easier.
We are talking about BT here, Mitch, and they are trying to plug their pension gap.
Ah yes.
Have to say the engineer I spoke to was quite a friendly and approachable chap and in truth I was expecting a swift one word answer and then an abrupt brush off.
Most of the engineers are OK if you approach them right. Holding out a bacon butty usually works exceptionally well. ;D
Noted.
I'll make sure I have some bacon in when he or she comes round to do the install.
That and chocolate biscuits. A fillet steak if you want a big favour. ;D
I'd better stock up then.
Or pop round, we always have stock. ;)
;D
