Anyone got it yet and is it a beautiful game as we all hoped? I might consider getting it just for the pwnage storyline

Some people says "yeh" and somepeople say "neh" ;)

Personally, im sticking with "Supreme commander" - which is just as good review wise ;)

Ok ive got it, its quite good, especially the amazing cinematics and storyline. Takes a bit of getting used to and battles can vary dramatially in length but so far i like it

Its a good game (i got it today) but EA have some serious problems atm, the online service has been up and down like a yoyo, and the bugs (i.e. crashs) are extremely annoying!

(although a new patch has been released late last night...apparently the crash's are fixed!)

My overall impression of it is that it is very "simple" and I think thats the idea. It doesnt have the sweeping massive randomly generated maps of old, and the standard MP maps are unashamedly unnatural (symetrical - they look like the devs drew up 1/4 of the map and then copied and pasted).

It's definately not going to rate higher than Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander or Dawn of War (my favourite 3 RTS games) - but its a lot of fun.

The campaign is filled with cut scenes of real actors again, this time round using a lot of familiar faces (I counted at least two actors from BSG). The acting looks strained - almost as if they are taking the piss but I guess they are just having some fun - hell its a different market than their standard holywood fare.

Now, the good stuff.

It looks pretty - real pretty. The graphics and sound are understandably very good. Details of the units is very high and it performs nicely on my 9 month old rig.

The units seem to be balanced quite well. Its very much a case of building a lot of units for defence and offence, as the base defences are quite weak - its easy to storm a base if it has no units protecting them.

All in all a fun game. I'd give it around a 6/10 myself.

Played it in pre-release beta as I was an addict throughout the previous incarnations.
Overall impressions are that they've done a great job on the look and feel, weaponry is excellent, balance between sides is very fair (stealth & slow build vs power and fast build)

Main issue is that head to head play still encourages base build, resource capture and tank-rushing  :P

RC1 Beta was pretty (read very) resource intensive and suffered from in-game stutters which has put me off from buying the commercial product. Might consider revisiting...:0) Afraid I've been wasting my time on UT2004 again  >:D >:D

It runs easily on full on my friends 3000+ 64 and 6600gt with 1gb of ram. I like it, especially at lans  >:D

Woah this new patch changes everything. Old tactics dont actually work and the zone troopers are extremely powerful and capable of p00ning mammoth tanks!
