Title: Downloads
Post by: Bill on Jul 01, 2010, 22:13:54
Well, it's the first of the month so it's "Let's do a big download and confuse the monthly estimator" time- about 12GB on its way

And there's no footie so I'm getting decent speeds again!

Got a game on the first of last month. Then downloaded two demos. Must have been 20gb in total in various things. The predictor went to something like 120gb for the month.

Clearly the first estimate should only use the first second elapsed in the month for maximum imprecision.

If I was at my maximum speed during that all important second of time it would predict something like 2,051 GB. Lovely!

Mine comes out at a bit over 3,000GB... I wonder if Simon (Davies) would start muttering about Fair Usage or just sit back with a smile on his face and take the money? :eek4:

I'm sure he would like the £3,000, but hopefully, he would raise your awareness of the increasing bill first!  ;D

For £3,000 he might bump your traffic priority to squeeze as much bandwidth out of your line as possible! That'll be another couple hundred pounds, sir!  :D

Oh, I'm sure I'd get a phone call first, but then I have this mental picture of Simon opening the single malt  :thumb:

I was hoping to trigger one of the warning emails (haven't had one for ages) but the projected peak usage has just dropped under 40GB... I'll have to visit the iTunes store again

I wouldn't know how or where to start :(

And if I did, I'd probably go after my Visa account rather than iTunes
