Post by: BAP on Jun 29, 2010, 19:02:18
Anyone with idnet using this router, Linksys WAG320N or similar.
Have been using various netgears for some years. the one I have is on the blink, thinking of having a change. :dunno:

Not used it myself, but I'm sure they will be someone here that has.

I've used Linksys routers and found them OK.  Their customer service was excellent

If you are looking at that sort of price band take a look at the Draytek range. This  Vigor 2710 (http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor2710.html) is a superb router.

I run a Vigor 2820 which is a bit more expensive but the quality and configuration possibilities are extremely good.

Great router Dorset, is it dual band 2.4/5ghz? I could not see mention of that in the specs? Shame the connections are on the front, easy access but dead ugly for a home unit.

I used to have a Linksys AG241 (not wireless), it was OK as a router but it's reporting facilities were poor- you couldn't get a full set of stats from it.

Eventually it died and now I use a 3Com 3CRWDR101A-75. 3Com often get iffy reviews but I've been very pleased with it. My main complaint is that you can't get the uptime from the stats pages :dunno:

It's not particularly cheap (edit- though not as expensive as the Vigor 2710!)- it's aimed at the SOHO market rather than being a purely domestic router.

:-\  I use the standard 2820 not the "n" wireless model so have not looked at that spec.

Had the Vigor 2710Vn for a year, for some reason it didn't like my line, kept dropping out. Gave it my brother in the end.

Funny thing he has just dropped round and gave me a new Netgear GT, will give netgear another go :-\.

Thanks all

With Draytek you need to be sure you have the firmware to suit your connection type.
