Title: IDNet and bad afternoon pings
Post by: Aaron on Mar 29, 2007, 16:22:13
This has been bothering me for some time now since I play online in the afternoons a lot. I haven't got anything concrete from tracerts to a certain WoW server 80.239.149.47 which is the Nordrassil realm, apart from the occasional packet loss or high ping at the 2nd/3rd hop from time to time. In-game, I'm at around 400-600ms and sometimes get spikes for 2-3 secs and can't do anything.

This always disappears near to 5 or 6pm and is smooth all evening/night after that. Any reason for this?

I have the same thing and this is my 3rd ISP in the last few years, personally I blame Telia routing - all other services running smooth but as soon as you jump onto a WoW server it looks a different story.

I think you're right Desaan, though I'm no games player. Just ran a tracert on that server and it times out after entering the Telia network. :(

That's just the wow server which doesn't respond to pings, always been like that ever since WoW was launched afaik.

Most ISP's have problems with WoW. Some people search for one that will get good pings, but, as far as im aware, most ISP's are routed through telia :(
