Title: Anyone tried this?
Post by: Niall on Jun 24, 2010, 21:17:32
http://ninite.com/

A mate just bought and installed Windows7 and stumbled across it. He's used it to be lazy and install pretty much everything he uses in one go.

Anyone tried it? Is it safe? Personally this sort of thing makes me whip out the tin foil hat and cringe :D

Looks like it could be useful, but I don't know if it is safe or not.

I installed Defraggler from it after you'd posted it Niall, no problems.

I've bookmarked it.

Must admit I prefer using the proper sites to get software, its a great idea but if you have what you need bookmarked its not a huge issue to download from the legitimate site then install. I always feel uncomfortable about sites like these I guess.

Not sure I'd recommend multiple installations, either, if I correctly understand what it claims to be able to do.  What happens if an app needs a reboot after installation?

When I installed Defraggler it downloaded and ran its own installer so don't think it should cause issues.
