I've just been looking through O2 websites and notice some tariffs have changed.. lower price or more included etc.
I'm on Online simplicity 20.
I used to pay £20 for 600 mins, 1000 txts, I then had a unlimited text bolt on and unlimited o2 to o2 calls plus web bolt on, this came to £35 a month.
Checking online tonight, I now get from the 15th this month.
600 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited o2 to o2 calls for £20 a month. Saving me £15 a month
I've got the web bolt on removed.
If anyone else is on o2 simplicity it might be worth 10mins of your time checking the site and phoning 202 from your phone to change your tariff.

Unlimited data is stopping for all customers in october anyways :(
O2 claim the average data use is only 200mb/month and that 3% of users are using 36% of the data capacity on O2 network
So, what's the limit going to be?

I wonder if the same applies to BlackBerry tariffs? I think I'll stick to what I'm on. £20 per month isn't bad for the use I get out of it.

Their network cant handle the bandwidth needed that's the real issue I think

I took my web bolt on off because I find O2 data to slow to use. I mainly use WiFi on my iPhone.
And if I ever did have to use 3G then I dont mind a couple £ charge as I will still be saving money.
I can get a good 3G signal at work, and as I mainly use it for here and Pals, I don't find speed an issue.
I resent the fact that I pay for O2 data and am rarely able to use it around where I live although I can get 3g at work. I think I need to try another provider.

For me unlocking my 3GS and using Vodafone has helped, but Orange and Vodafone all have caps on data as well, I just don't think mobile networks have the infrastructure required for mass data usage. O2 just cant be bothered to upgrade their network sadly.

IDNet will give you similar figures, not about bandwidth used but that a very small percentage of users account for a large amount of the network traffic.

The O2 network crumbled though Rik, data speeds in London are slow, the iPhone traffic seems to have put a strain on the network, I think this is Spin by o2 to back off updating the network as needed, personally.
Undoubtedly, I was just saying that it's not uncommon for a handful of users to abuse a network.

I reckon it'll make a comeback when 4G LTE is released as that offers far more capacity and theoretical downstream speeds of 100+ Mbps.
It's like roads. Can you complain that someone uses the road all the time (when they work) and are only 3% of those using it? Oh, and 97% (those retired sitting watching TV) are only using it a few times a week?
People have different needs. Either charge them for what they use and it's cost. Or if it's "unlimited" don't complain when someone takes up your servers or infrastructure...
