Just been reading that, I noticed that...
QuoteHe said that a national superfast network could add £18bn to the GDP and create at least 60,000 new jobs.
Digital switchover
"Some people ask why we need these speeds when the iPlayer can manage on less than 1Mbps. They are missing the point," he said.
"Superfast broadband is not simply about doing the same things faster. It's about doing totally new things - creating a platform on which a whole generation of new businesses can thrive."
Education and medicine would be key drivers of fast networks, he said.
...was followed by

But he offered no new funding for such networks.
Is that referring to ALL fast broadband or just the creation of fast networks geared towards education and / or medicine?

Not quite :
QuoteHe said that the previous government's commitment to a "paltry 2Mbps" (megbaits per second) universal net speed was "pitifullly unambitious".
Well, it's better than a y. ;D
Is this broadband or a new fisheries policy :eyebrow:
I don't know, I'm hooked. ;D

I was using this (http://http://web.forret.com/tools/bandwidth.asp?speed=3478&unit=MB%2Fs) converter the other day, and still kept getting confused over bytes and bits (as they are abbreviated to B and b, or is it b and B?).
The link's not working for me, Ben. B is bytes, b is bits.

Yep, sorry, must have double typed it. I was having a different problem on another forum. As it would not allow me to post ben.www.idnet (for example) to link my pictures. It kept auto correcting it to www.ben.www.idnet instead. (As the Idnet webspace puts your name first) But this time it was my fault.

I wonder if they'd do a small job cash in hand. ;D
If they agree to do a covert fibre run to the exchange for £50 point them my way would you.
Well, this is a direct link to the quote page. http://www.h2onetworksdarkfibre.com/quick-quote.php
