Hi
Have been having problems with my BB connection.
I am along way from the exchange 5Km+ as can be seen from my d/s attenuation.
I was connecting between 1450 and 1600kbs and now struggle to connect at 1100+
After yet another reconnection I get the stats as shown in the attachment.
Have tried different router, filters and direct to test socket.
Only have Router connected at the moment, no skybox any thing like.
Anyone any ideas. I don't have a problem with getting BB at 1.25meg as I was getting,
if I did I would have moved to Virgin Media when we moved here at Xmas. (Cabinet only about 20m away)
TIA
Steve
Ok heres the attachment :red:

To be honest, Steve, that's one of the worst lines I have seen. 70db attenuation, 1.8db noise margin a fairly deep interleave and lots of errors, even the upstream noise margin is poor.
Short of trying another router, there's little I can suggest. My guess would be that your line is gradually degrading, and BT are unlikely to do anything about it. Sorry. :(
That's what I was thinking, will see if I can borrow another routerand try it.
If no better will have to go for Virgin Media don't wont to really as I have had
problems with them in the past.
Steve
It would be worth having a word with support first, but on those figures, BT would have given you no more than 256k on fixed rate - if anything.
Thanks Rik I will ringwhen I get a chance.
Steve
Hi Steve
I've checked with support. You're on a banded profile, so your max sync speed will be 1152 at the moment. They agree with me that it would be worth trying an alternative router at the test socket, if the attenuation remains at 70db, there's not going to be much they can do for you. One option, though, would be to revert you to ADSL1 modulation, to see if that produced better results.
Hi Rik
now using an my old belkin router.
Just trying to rember how to get the stats will be back soon with them
Steve
:fingers:
Hi
Here we go with the stats:
conection speed down 1152 up 448
N/M down 7dB up 8dB
Attn down 62dB up 31.5db
So not much in it what do you think
Steve
It's an improvement on the other router, 8db less attenuation, better noise margin and slightly higher sync speed both up and down. What make was the other router, Steve?
Netgear DG834G v4
It was bought because the Belkin was playing up at our old address.
I will leave it in place for a day or two and see what happens.
Errors are almost nil now aswell so things loking up
Steve
It might be worth trying a 2-Wire 2700 on that line, Steve, we've seen some good results from them on long lines.
I would say your line is a prime candidate for a 2wire 2700HGV :)
Damn, Rik beat me to it!
I will get one in the net few days and repot back on the results.
Thanks again Rik
Steve
NP. :) Keep us posted, Steve.
If your on adsl2+ that's my presumption as banded profile has been mentioned, remodulation back to Adslmax will give you a lower attentuation and hopefully a higher sync
Steve is, Steve. (This could get complicated. ;))
Hi
2 wire now in place stats are as atached.
Now just wait and see how it goes.
Steve
HI
Ok I forgot again attached to this one.

Currently, Steve, those figures are marginally worse but nothing to worry about. See how stable it is.
Hi
I am now back on adslmax ( or equivalent ) as the 2 wire still could not hold the line and lower than ever sync speeds.
So will now give this a few weeks and see what happens.

Keep us posted, Steve.
