Title: Phone line
Post by: Tina on May 20, 2010, 09:48:28
There seems to be a lot of interference on my phone line - I suspect its the router and phone base too close together. I've put them apart as far as i can, but it's still happening. Any idea's what I can do next please? :)

Is it affecting your ADSL, Tina? If so, unplug the phone and see if it improves. If it's only affecting the phone, unplug the router and see if that fixes it. If it does, then all I can suggest is that you try a different filter, or even two in series and, if that doesn't work, get an extension lead and site the phone further away.

It would seem it's the filter.  Where can I buy a good one cheaply? Thanks for your help Rik :)

Good and cheap don't necessarily go together, Tina. I'd recommend the ADSL Nation (http://www.adslnation.com/products/xf-1e.php) xf-1e, £7.99 direct from the company. They are by far the best filters I've ever used.

I use the Adsl nation faceplate and it works wonderfully.

I was wondering about suggesting that, Gary, but wasn't sure how comfortable Tina would be changing the faceplate.

In that case it is either the phone or a fault on the line. Maybe ask support to run a test on the line to see if it picks anything up before buying a corded phone just for testing.
