From what i've gathered its going to be either a HP or a Canon
Needs to be able to do everything for family use, from photos to emails
Our last printer was terrible with photo printer (the paper kept jamming) as well as large amounts of normal paper
Not sure whether to go wired or wireless - probably best to go wired but to have the option of wireless would be nice for out of reach areas.
I swear I am buying one this time, mum has no choice as i've flogged the other :P
oh and good at keeping itself clean/non clogged too :)
most likely to be using choice stationary compats
hmm doesnt seem to be many networked options out here
edit:
HPPhotosmart C4780 looks promising - half price on amazon and its wireless
That or the 309G, Sam, I have the latter and I believe Baz has too. Flexible, wired or wireless, built in Bluetooth & duplexer.
I believe the Canon MP640 is a network printer too.
It is Glenn, and it's wired and wireless.
I shall post back with my findings :)
I have this one (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF05a/18972-18972-238444-410635-410635-3984414.html)
its very good and ive had no bother at all.has all that Rik mentioned, gives very good quality prints too.It can be a tad 'clunky' in between print jobs which is the only thing ive found annoying about it.
And sometimes before printing, Baz. ;)
;D ;D yes double annoying but we dont want to put any one off do we
No, Baz, the virtues outweigh the niggles. :)

That's the one I've got too, with no complaints either :)
MP 640 gets my vote
That's what I would have got had it been cheaper :)
Ok got it today
easy to setup in windows, just a 60mb driver download (?) but other that that it shows up in network list as a printer
done
just to test in ubuntu next
Which one did you settle on, Sam?

.....and didnt you get a disc with it for the install :dunno: :dunno:
The 4780 :)
i didnt use the disk on my pc (did on the laptop) as it installed all kinds of..cr*p
the single driver on the pc did the trick
Typical HP, Sam. Did they not offer a basic, drivers only, installation.
They have to justify the price somehow
