I've just discovered this useful little free application from the publishers of Ccleaner for getting information about all your installed hardware etc. Speccy (http://www.piriform.com/speccy)
Looks useful Ray.
Very detailed Information ! :thumb:
Thanks, Ray. :thumb:
have you tried it yet.I have tuneup utilities 2007 and that has a section which has some detailed info too
Not yet, Baz, I had to go and do my afternoon penance. :)
oo oh!!!! what you been up to then ;)
Nothing new, Baz, I just have to go and sweat on the exercise bike twice a day. Boring.
you not got it in front of the big tv like you see in all the gyms ;D
No, it's in the spare bedroom, Baz. I don't watch anything, I just listen to pipe bands, they make me pedal faster. ;D
Is that so you'll get out of the room quicker, Rik, ;D :out:

Oh. I know of everything in my pc. As I put it there! ;D
I'm also quite obsessive in checking everything before I buy it. After myself (and the family mainly) buying things that are no good, due to lack of research, I've learnt my lesson.
Helpful program non the less though.
I just replaced the stock cooling fan on my i7 cpu with a Zalman CNPS 10X Performa, it's dropped the temps by 25C.
SIW (http://www.gtopala.com/) as posted by Noreen gives very detailed information about your PC.
That's quite a drop must have been very warm before.
It was running at 59c on idle & 84c on max, now 32c & 52c
Till the heat wave comes. ;)
It's in a former conservatory too.
It's now a safe Labour seat, is it? ;)
It's a "It's our money, not yours" seat.
;D

I understand the i7 runs pretty hot anyway when compared to the C2D and the chap who looks after Realtemp (http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/) has suggested the stock cooler is not adequate.
I was using Realtemp last night, seems like a useful little program.
My old AMD athalon use to run in the 80s to 90s. Very hot. Not sure what mine is now... (checks) ... System says 43 not under load.
This pc's Phenom 2 is about 6 months old. When it's approaching a year, I may upgrade the fans, and try overclocking, to lengthen it's lifespan. In power output at least. It will shorten it's length of life though! :O

The other one I've used is Coretemps (http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/)
for monitoring of fan speeds and temps I use Speedfan
Does also allow you to vary the fan speed.
