Title: Re activating An Already Activated Vista
Post by: colonelsun on Apr 14, 2010, 21:40:02
My pc is just a tad over 12 months old, Vista was activated/authenticated immediately. But for the past few days i've been receiving a pop up alerting me to the fact that my copy of Vista requires authentication.

After some Googling i've learned that programs like Daemon Tools sometimes trigger these pop ups, also a driver change that Vista disagrees with has the same result. I may, or may not have, agreed to a free antivirus or free firewall program to download a driver.....when i was switching from a paid antivirus service to a free one. I beleive that may have caused the problem because the actual Windows pop up states it is an error.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem? I know Vista is a pile of you know what but if it's this sensitive to change it should never have been released to market.

I've seen it before with Vista, just activating a floppy drive controller seemed to upset it.

Thanks Steve, it's not just me then. I can't see what was wrong with Windows XP....Microsoft could have prolonged it's life rather than force the universally loathed Vista on the world.

I'd go for a Mac next time but i don't want to be in a minority.

I'm sure if they were a bit more affordable, you wouldn't be, Dave.
