A quick question really. I am very happy that my 2700HGV seems to be holding sync and hasn't lost for 4 days. I hope the 1 loss I have had since ownership was a one off!
Anyway, I am really wanting my Noise Marin of 15db to fall. I have been told it takes 14 days for a 3db drop.
Does this mean the sync has to be maintained for an entire 14 days? Can it drop once or twice in that time and still get the drop?
Oh, and what triggers a 3db rise? Is there a ballpark number of resyncs, or just the one?

I think the sync has to be maintained for the 14 days whether your allowed the odd drop via a power down I am unsure. The rise in margin can be triggered by just one resync if there is sufficient external noise around at the time.

I was always under that impression but it certainly hasn't been the case for me.
I had lots of problems with my line which have now been fixed. I live a long way from our exchange but am very pleased with my IP Profile of 4Mbs. During my line problems the noise margin was either 12db or 15db, I can't remember. Even now, my ADSL modem occasionally re-synchs, every 4 or 5 days maybe, usually during an incoming call, but that still didn't prevent my noise margin returning to 6db.
You do need to maintain a constant sync for 14 days, and even then, the noise margin will only be reduced if the line is reasonably error free.

Mine has definitely reduced without a constant synch for 14 days. ;D

Seems a bit unfair really. If a line drops maybe a handful of times in 14 days, its hardly 'unstable'.
Guess I just have to hope I dont lose sync!
Sadly, qweezy, BT make the laws and act as judge and jury. None of us is happy with the situation, but unless you can get LLU, there's little alternative.
