IJT Direct also do the G2 version for a few pence less http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001ROVLWO/ref=pd_luc_mri?_encoding=UTF8&m=A1KKPH32R88X7D

Their Ebay outlet is Here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8GB-KINGSTON-G2-USB-MEMORY-STICK-PEN-FLASH-DRIVE-NEW_W0QQitemZ250595623802QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_FlashDrives_SM?hash=item3a58a9c37a)

Strangely enough, I bought a Micro SD card from them last Friday, received it on Wednesday morning. They ship from Guernsey \ Jersey, same as Play.com. Almost 83,000 sales on Ebay with 99.9% feedback, so they seem a pretty reliable outfit.

what are the encrypted ones like.is it just software on the drive itself or do you need to install software on any PC you plug the drive into.My wife needs one for work and thought of encrypted ones. Her work should provide them really....but blood out of stone comes to mind  ;D
Title: Re: pen drives
Post by: Rik on Mar 27, 2010, 10:20:17
I'm not sure, Baz, as I tend to delete any software supplied with pen drives. I would have thought that it had to be installed to the PCs that the drive is used with.
Title: Re: pen drives
Post by: Lance on Mar 27, 2010, 10:24:16
It doesn't, Rik.

The software we use at work encrypts the pen drive using software installed on the machine. We can then take the drive from one work machine to another and use it as a normal drive. However, if it is used in a personal computer, you can't access anything on the drive without entering the password set when it was encrypted.

Post by: Rik on Mar 27, 2010, 10:25:23
So, presumably, it's loading a decryption driver into memory?

I don't know to be honest.  :dunno:

Yep, laptop is fully encrypted too! In fact, every single machine on the Essex County Council network is encrypted, laptop or otherwise.

Is it Pointsec encryption?
Title: Re: pen drives
Post by: Lance on Mar 27, 2010, 19:06:19
Yep I think so.

Checkpoint?
Title: Re: pen drives
Post by: Glenn on Mar 27, 2010, 19:13:40
Yep, it's a pain to fix a pc with it on. Removing it with a decrypt key can take several hours, then several more to re-install and encrypt the drive again.

I see. i thought you were going to say it was a load of rubbish and easily hackable!

Well, before Ericsson took over running Three's network. They brought in a Pointsec encrypted laptop, boasting it was uncrackable. Three's network security boss gave it back to them unlocked, inside 30 minutes. He never said how he did it, to us or Ericsson.

yeah thats gone through with the seller at amazon

got an email from the mymemory place.it may help any one who has similar problems.

British Telecom has confirmed a fire at their Exchange in the Paddington area of London.  This has impacted a huge number of UK businesses, including Sage Pay and the major banks that route transactions through the Exchange.  Sage Pay has taken action on your behalf by quickly moving transaction processing to our backup data centre.  However, the issue has affected connectivity to some banks who rely on the exchange and we are currently unable to process via those banks at this time.

Please note, as banks and payment providers look for alternative transaction routing solutions away from the Paddington Exchange, this could create some general capacity issues, resulting in transaction 'time-outs'.

I ordered ink cartridges from IJT on Friday and they arrived this morning, I have never had a problem with deliveries from them.

Perhaps it was Royal Mail.

Post by: Baz on Apr 19, 2010, 16:30:57
well I think they will blame them but the parcel when it arrived didnt look like it had been 'hanging around some depot' for a while, it was not dirty, crumpled, worn or the like,it looked freshly sent

dont know  :dunno:   doesnt matter now I have it.have sent them an email and said so

Royal Mail fly a lot of internal post, Baz, so may have been caught out by the flying restrictions.
